Marble Countertops

Marble comes from pure limestone rendering it a white color, while colored marble are a result of other minerals mixed in. Marble is usually seen in light colors, although there are dark and even black marble with white veining.

Marble is a soft stone and not resistant to heat. It can stain easily, but if it is sealed properly, it is not an issue. Marble countertops have either a highly polished finish or a honed finish which doesn’t show scratches as much.

It is important to clean any spills as soon as possible.  To clean marble countertops, all you need is water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth. There are also stone cleaners specifically made for stone countertops. Always keep away from harsh abrasive cleaners, especially those that contain ammonia. Sealing your countertops once a year protects the marble counters.

Marble countertops add value to any home and the initial cost of marble is more than recovered when it is time to sell it. Marble countertops definitely add a luxurious, high end look and feel to any home.
